The video of Donald Trump making casual comments about kissing and groping women makes me sick. Literally goose bumps, chills angry.
He justified his behavior by saying, "When you're a star they let you do it."
If you haven't seen the footage - it's here. I can't paraphrase it; it's that offensive and outrageous. Everything about the conversation and subsequent encounter reeks of misogyny.
I've worked in politics for most of my professional life. Sexism is everywhere - from the way you are greeted at a fundraiser to the weight your decisions carry. Never, ever, ever have I heard something so vulgar from a candidate.
Does it happen? Probably - I'm not naive. But to have it recorded shows a devastating lack of common sense. Anything you say to a reporter is on the record. It just is.
Trump is making a mockery of the presidency in his vanity-driven quest. He should be humiliated but his apology shows a disturbing lack of remorse. It's more like a big "fuck you" to women everywhere.
"I apologize if anyone was offended.”
Are you kidding me? Damn right people were offended. Women are offended. And, (gasp) we are intelligent. We have good memories and we know how to vote.
